Safe Riding

Motorcycling on today's roads has never been more demanding and motorcycle casualties in Norfolk have been a major concern for several years. Norfolk Constabulary is at the forefront of collision reduction initiatives with its SAFE RIDER programme. SAFE RIDER is designed to improve your hazard awareness and planning whilst also dealing with safe cornering and overtaking techniques. It matters not whether you are a novice, someone returning to motorcycling, or an experienced rider, there will be something in SAFE RIDER for you. You never stop learning The courses are designed to improve motorcyclists survivability, by making them more observing of (and responsive to) hazards, of whatever nature. They also deal with safe cornering and overtaking techniques for our ever more crowded roads and how they differ from what is best on the track. It is not a dull & dreary course, and they manage to have some laughs along the way, whilst hopefully getting our message across. The course consists of 2 evenings of theory discussions, followed by 5 hours out on the road with a police rider, on a 3:1 ratio. All this for the meagre price of £25. They obviously get a huge range of abilities and experience on every course but they try to match up similar types of bike as closely as they can. Is it worth doing? I have no doubt that it is, particularly if you are open minded to different suggestions. It is to be me made clear that the course is only open to residents of Norfolk and its fringe towns on the borders with Cambs, Lincs & Suffolk. Other forces are running various schemes, but some do not run any at all. I suggest you check with the local Police Traffic department to see what is available in your area if you are not eligible for this scheme. They still have plenty of places for this year, but when the weather warms up they will fill up very quickly. Do you have a motorcycle event planned for 2008?

If you have an event planned for this year, then why not contact Kneedown.com to place an advert, especially as it is free! with no hidden charges. All I ask is that if you have your own site, you place a link back to kneedown.com or if you don't, then you spread the word about kneedown.com.

The same applies to any mtorcycle club, company or even pub landlord (where bikers meet frequently), contact kneedown on talk2me@kneedown.com with your details, photo's etc and I will add them to the site.
